Why Visit Canada

One of the most magnificent creatures in the north, as white as the snow and as dangerous as anything can be, is the polar bear weighing in over 1300 pounds.  Canada is home to over two-thirds of the world’s population of these creatures, counting just fewer than 17,000.  Polar bears hunt seals in the harshest climate in Canada.

In addition to the polar bear, wildlife of Canada includes brown bears, moose, caribou, foxes and a huge variety of birds.  Just off the coast of Canada, in the summer, you may be able to see one of the 57,000 beluga whales in Hudson Bay. The whales are big, but they are not considered dangerous.  They are curious though.

There is a cruise available to allow you to visit the natural habitats for Canada’s wildlife.  The ship, the Wanderbird, takes an 11-day tour along Canada’s farthest coastline.  The views along this cruise are exceptionally beautiful.  Canada is making great effort to preserve the environment so the homes of their wildlife are safe.

During the colder months, there is a wondrous sight in northern Canada, in the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunayut.  This sight is visible about 243 nights of the year.  You can see it best away from the city lights and on moonless nights.  This display is called the Northern Lights, or the Aurora Borealis. Benjamin Franklin attributed the light displays to an electrical charge enhanced by the cold and moisture of the Polar Regions.  Canadians have numerous tours available for visitors to see the phenomenal display of lights that flash colors across the sky.  These lights are in a variety of colors and are in constant movement.

Canada has other attractions that will intrigue the visitor.  There is the unspeakable beauty of the wondrous mountains, the lush green valleys, water ways that are clean and clear and open plains rich with wildlife.  In addition to the natural beauty, the visitor can delve into the colorful history of this vibrant land.  There are remains from native tribes, Vikings, gold seekers and explorers.  Canada’s history is rich and worth the time and money for a memorable vacation.
