There are 50 countries in Africa that all offer unforgettable adventures. A trip to the intense city of Cairo could be the place for those seeking a modern city with 19th-century buildings, surrounded by truly ancient districts with nearby pyramids and Phaeronic sites. Then, tropical luxury awaits one visiting one of the 115 tropical island paradises that make up the Seychelles. There are beaches, forests, canyons, dive sites, bird watching and turtles swimming, to name a few sights. Although beautiful, if you’re inspired to see zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants and antelopes up close, a trip to Zambia and the Livingstone Game Park and the nearby Victoria Falls, where the Zambezi River drops 330ft in the world’s most inspiring waterfall, is the place to satisfy your appreciation to nature. Still, if you long to be cosmopolitan, even if you are in Africa, the trip for you is Cape Town. Long Street is the heart of the city with clubs, music stores and boutique hotels, with the backdrop of a true, beautiful African landscape: mountains, beaches and unique plants and animals.
As amazing as the variety of adventures to be had is, there are many aspects of traveling to Africa to consider, besides which country to go to. One must educate themselves on the time differences, local languages, different electrical plug outlets, how to make a telephone call home and how to take public transportation. When packing your suitcase, be well versed on what is acceptable to pass through customs. Additionally important is to know the current events and state of the government. Always check with the U.S. State Department before taking off, and then while visiting avoid protests. If on a safari, there are even more safety rules to be concerned with, like never panic or make a sudden movement when face to face with a lion! Safety first, and memorable experiences will be had in Africa.
