Thinking of an exotic vacation? Well, the Bahamas are the place to be. With many islands to visit and beautiful weather, you’ll never want to leave. Many celebrities frequent the islands often to enjoy the beautiful scenery that it has to offer. The Bahamas also offer beautiful weather, but does have hurricane season from June 1st to November 30th.
The Bahamas are located southeast of Florida, and have 2,000 cays and 700 islands that form an archipelago, a cluster of islands. The Taino people settled on the southern Bahamas around the seventh century. The were later called Lucayans. The island became vacant after they were taken to Hispaniola as slaves. In 1647 an English settler, William Sayle and his followers, decided to call this place home. They survived by robbing the passing ships. A lot of governing happened throughout the years and in 1973, the Bahamas became fully independent. The country today is the third highest per capita income. This brings some big challenges, such as drug trafficking, illegal immigration, education and health care issues. The island has had tremendous growth since the 1950s and continues to grow each year.
Despite the country's problems, it is a very popular place to visit and was once home to the late Anna Nicole Smith. It provides exotic beaches and great hotels to stay at. The locals are friendly. You will enjoy yourself and find yourself coming back time and time again. Just be sure to visit during the season when hurricanes aren't visiting too.
