New York City is one of the most visited cities in the world. It offers an abundance of experiences, including theater, entertainment, shopping, sports, the United Nations Building, icons of the United States (i.e. the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building), river trips, Central Park, television and movie studios, and beaches, all of which are well within reach of a short trip. The Finger Lakes in Syracuse are on the south shore of Lake Ontario. There is a nice road to travel from Ithaca to Alexander Bay. Travel books such as Fodor's Travel offer many suggestions for car trips across the state. Trains and subways are available. Being one of the oldest states, many historical sites are available to visit. Civil War and Revolutionary War sites can be discovered. Anyone visiting New York State can fulfill their needs for a variety of travel experiences in all seasons.
