Rome is one of the most magical places to be on the globe. The true magic comes from the art, architecture and history of the city. The legend of Rome itself holds its own questions. Legend says that two twin brothers named Romulus and Remus fought over whose name would be used for the city. Romulus won the battle and Remus died.
Trips to Rome should be taken during April and May, and September through October. The month of August has so many tourists that it takes many hours to get through museums and exhibits. When arriving in Rome at the airport, you may take the train into the center of the city for a small fee. Taking a cab may cost up to 50 dollars.
Some necessities are needed sometimes to make your trip pleasant. A public bathroom may be hard to find. Small restaurants on side streets will let you use the facilities if you buy something small. Drinking fountains are abundant. Don't be afraid to use them if they are clean.
City tours can be a good alternative to seeing everything on your own. Most tours have English guides, as well as French and Italian guides. The hotel you are staying at may have these available, but all bus terminals have them, too. Places you do not want to miss while you are in Rome are the following: Pantheon, Colosseum and Roman Forum, and the Vatican Museum. Check to see when the best time is to see these attractions. Rome is one of the most beautiful places, so remember to take your camera.
